As much as coastal Democrats get rightly criticized for thinking of middle America as flyover country, Republicans sure can be silly when in comes to creating caricatures of liberals.
A super PAC (the Congressional Leadership Fund) with ties to the House Republican leadership released a new ad Tuesday critical of Democrat Jon Ossoff for raising scads of cash from out-of-state donors and just generally showing signs of being the “other.”
Ossoff and Karen Handel (R) will face off in an election on June 20th to fill an open U.S. House seat in Georgia left vacant when Tom Price joined Trump’s Cabinet.
In the ad, Ossoff is said to be closely allied with San Francisco liberals like House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). Hippy types (I kid you not) are seen thanking Georgians for supporting Ossoff.
“We already have Nancy Pelosi as our congresswoman, now you’re going to give us Jon Ossoff as our congressman,” says a man with pigtail braids.
“We’re proud that California is the leading funder of the Jon Ossoff campaign,” says another. “We’re really excited that Jon Ossoff likes paying higher taxes.”
They go on to accuse Ossoff and Pelosi of seeking to weaken the military and failing to take ISIS seriously.
The closing line: “San Francisco loves them some Jon Ossoff.” San Francisco. Imagine. Why I hear tell there are lots of homosexuals there.
I seem to recall education levels are unusually high in the Georgia 6th. I doubt they’ll be fooled by an ad featuring what look like extras from an old “Cheech and Chong” movie.
It it weren’t so goofy, it would be offensive.
