It may not be a very popular position these days, but I’m a big fan of Hillary Clinton. Politics sucks. It’s about compromises and alliances and the art of the possible and any other cliche you might mention. It’s about doing what it takes to help make lives better; being effective to that end means getting dirty. It always has. You can’t be a saint and make a difference – not in this world, and I don’t believe in any other.
The good news for me is that Hillary Clinton isn’t going away quietly as we now hear she will soon launch a new PAC as a way, she says, of “acting as a quiet catalyst” for “organizations she cares about,” and, as the time approaches, willing 2018 congressional candidates.” But don’t worry, she has no intention of running for anything again. Even I think that’s a good thing.
According to a source familiar with the planning, the initial focus will be on lifting up organizations that are the product of the energy and activism she has seen since the election, and existing groups that have been reignited and reinvigorated by that energy. She has met with some of these groups, and it’s something she’s become increasingly passionate about with each meeting, the source said.
As Clinton recently told one gathering to cheers and applause: “So you know, I’m now back to being an activist citizen and part of the resistance.”
