Is it a good time to be a Democratic candidate for the House? A lot of people seem to think so, as the party is seeing a dramatic increase in the number of candidates entering the 2018 House races.
Perhaps these people have access to televisions, newspapers, or computers and think it likely President Trump will continue to fail big league thus clearing the way for a Democratic resurgence.
According to one source “more than 400 Democrats have already committed to run in 2018 House races,” which is a “58 percent increase from this point in the 2014 midterm cycle, when 259 Democrats had entered races.”
Bodies doesn’t indicate quality, but it does suggest a level of enthusiasm. I’m sure the DCCC is hard at work trying to figure out how to prioritize districts, where to spend money, and who the real contenders are as opposed to those who think running for office would be kind of fun and interesting.
If Trump continues to flounder around 40 percent approval, Democrats will be knee deep in top-notch candidates. Count on it.
