Maine Republican Senator Susan Collins might run for governor. Maine Governor Paul LePage is now saying he might run for the U.S. Senate. She’s up for re-election in 2020, so if she doesn’t step down for a gubernatorial run, LePage would have to take on Independent Angus King who was first elected in 2012 and is up for re-election in 2018.
King caucuses with the Democratic Party.
In a radio appearance on WGAN-AM LePage’s said that despite his interest in the Senate, he feels he ‘‘wouldn’t make a very good legislator.’’ He added that he wonders if he would be effective in Washington, and that he believes he would “find committee meetings boring.”
Well, I’m certain LePage wouldn’t make a very good legislator, that he wouldn’t be very effective in Washington, and though I find the governor’s general level of stupidity tedious, I have no idea if committee work would bore him.
