Election Day in Kansas (4th CD)

What have I done?

Well, now we know why Republicans are panicking about the special election today for the 4th congressional district in Kansas. The Witchita Eagle is reporting that an internal poll circulating among Republicans shows GOP candidate Ron Estes leading by a mere one point against his Democratic opponent.

This is Kansas, the holy grail of red states, and Democrats are that competitive.

Sure, GOP Governor Sam Brownback is widely despised there, and that’s clearly having an impact. I wouldn’t bet the farm on a Democratic pickup, but even coming close would be exciting.
