PoliticsPA reports that State Representative Jim Christiana (R-Beaver) will be “entering the race to challenge incumbent Senator Bob Casey” in 2018.
“The same reason I ran for the state House, the same reason I ran for borough council is the same reason I’m running for U.S. Senate and that’s a frustration of watching the same politicians for over a decade popping their head up at election time making excuses for why they haven’t solved our greatest challenges.”
As for Senator Casey, Christiana has no kind words:
“As a rubber stamp for President Obama, he’s not delivered or led independently,” Christiana said, citing the two-term Democratic senator’s opposition to President Trump’s pick of Judge Neil Gorsuch for the Supreme Court this week.
PoliticsPA notes that Christiana is “third candidate, and second western Pennsylvania State House member to jump into the race. State Representative Rick Saccone (R-Allegheny) announced earlier this year, and Andrew Shecktor who was a Trump Delegate to the RNC last year announced as well.”
It’s early yet, but I don’t think I’d want to be a Republican challenger in a mid-term election after the country has a chance to experience a couple of years of Trump’s notable incompetence.
Good luck, one and all.
