Word out of Colorado is that Rep. Ed Perlmutter (D-Co.) is going to make an announcement on Sunday, which has many speculating he’ll make known his plans to enter the race to replace Gov. John Hickenlooper (D), the term-limited incumbent.
Perlmutter has been a Denver area congressman sine 2006.
If he does jump in, he’ll have plenty of company, which could potentially include, according to The Hill, Rep. Jared Polis (D) and former state Treasurer Cary Kennedy (D). Former state Sen. Mike Johnston (D) is already in.
For the Republicans, District Attorney George Brauchler (R) is running and Attorney General Cynthia Coffman (R) and state Treasurer Walker Stapleton (R) are thinking about it.
For what it’s worth, Hillary Clinton beat Donald Trump by a margin of 48.1% to 43.25% in 2016.
This is a November 2018 election and so much will happen between now and then.
