Listen Here: “I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm” – Dick Powell and Alice Faye (1937); Les Brown (1949)

“I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm” is not really a Christmas song, but so many have recorded it on Christmas albums that it’s become a holiday favourite.

It was written by Irving Berlin in 1937 for the musical film On the Avenue, and sung by Dick Powell and Alice Faye (below). Les Brown’s instrumental version became a million-seller and Billboard top ten song in 1949 (also below).

Other versions include Billie Holiday (1937); Della Reese (1953); Bing Crosby (1954); Sarah Vaughan and Billy Eckstine (1957); Ella Fitzgerald (1958); Frank Sinatra (1961); Judy Garland (1963); Tony Bennett (1968); and many more.
