Night Music: Jimmy Forrest – “Night Train” (1951)

“Night Train” is a twelve-bar blues instrumental standard first recorded by Jimmy Forrest in 1951 and subsequently by a whole bunch of people. It’s certainly familiar to the ear, especially as it has been used in a number of movies and television show like Back to the Future, Apollo 13, and Happy Days.

The interesting history of the tune’s development can be found on the song’s Wikipedia page, if you have the time.
