New Books: The Nixon Defense: What He Knew and When He Knew It – John W. Dean

Nixon defenseEndlessly fascinating material, even if you weren’t around for this real example of attempting to destroy the Constitution.  Youngsters might find it incredible that so many, even those barely interested in politics, tuned into the Senate hearings led by Sam (I’m just a country lawyer) Ervin and Howard Baker.

Hard to believe it’s been 40 years. Where does the time go?

Viking (July 29, 2014):

In The Nixon Defense, former White House Counsel John W. Dean, one of the last major surviving figures of Watergate, draws on his own transcripts of almost a thousand conversations, a wealth of Nixon’s secretly recorded information, and more than 150,000 pages of documents in the National Archives and the Nixon Library to provide the definitive answer to the question: What did President Nixon know and when did he know it?

Selected Reviews:

Washington Post – Bob Woodward

Los Angeles Times – Carolyn Kellog
