The Fabulous Thunderbirds – “Tuff Enuff”

tuffFor a brief shining moment in the mid 1980s The Fabulous Thunderbirds were a part of mass culture consciousness. Not that they hadn’t already been a great blues rock band for years before that, but blues by then had been a niche market for a long time and continues to be. “Tuff Enuff” peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard Top 100 in 1986. And the album by the same name went gold and then platinum. They also had success with “Powerful Stuff,” due in part to its inclusion in the 1988 film Cocktail. There have been lots of lineup changes over the years (co-founder Kim Wilson is now the bands sole original member) and a continuing ambitious touring schedule have kept the band out there.
This music is right in my wheelhouse.
